NEWS Feb 2008HEIDIProducers: Phyllis Adams and June Ryl-Kuchar are busy, filling out the crew and have a lot of eager and willing people to help. The rehearsals are going wonderfully, our Heidi knows all of her lines, and is challenging the rest to step up. They are a week or so ahead of schedule, but Lori and Peg are not worried that they will peak too soon. It is a wonderfully cohesive group and we are having entirely too much fun at the rehearsals. We welcome Joyce Eddy and Ray Velasquez and Renee Ogelsby to the crew. Rose Ellis found all of the paintings and made up a Power Point. And Carl Erickson and David Groebe are “conspiring” on the stage set up.I HATE HAMLET TRYOUTS: MAR 4,5 -8p.m. ALL SAINTS CHURCH 13500 LaGrange
I Hate Hamlet is a dramatic comedy written in 1990 by Paul Rudnick. Set in John Barrymore's old apartment in New York City - at the time, the author's real-life home - the play follows successful television actor Andrew Rally as he struggles with taking on the dream role of Hamlet, dealing with a girlfriend who is keeping a firm grip on her chastity, and playing host to the ghost of John Barrymore, who, clothed as Hamlet, has come back to earth for the sole purpose of convincing Rally to play the part. Barrymore proves to be very convincing (challenging Andrew to a sword fight in the middle of the New York loft), and Andrew decides to play Hamlet. But when a Hollywood friend shows up offering Andrew a new television role, and millions of dollars in salary, Andrew is forced to choose between Shakespeare, whom his girlfriend loves, or television, where he is loved by millions. 3 men 3 women Director: Len Wcislo 708 598 5995 Asst. We’ve been reading, sharing our impressions, doing short write-ups (so we don’t forget what we thought) and then trading playbooks with each other to get an all important “second opinion”. If you’re a PVP member and you’d like to join us, please do. We meet every other Monday evening in the Seattle’s Best Café at Borders Books in Orland Park (153rd/Lagrange Rd.) at 8:00pm. Next time will be February 11th. Each play is read by at least two (2) of us and we do brief write-ups noting a Yes or No vote for recommending to the Board; as well as any special notes, e.g., staging challenge, or opportunity to expand stated cast, one-room set., etc. The purpose of the meetings is to share our opinions and grab another play or two to read for next time.
